Normal shoulder function is essential for many daily activities and sports. Shoulder dysfunction can cause significant impairment of everyday quality of life. There is a high prevalence of shoulder injuries in contact sports such as rugby and GAA and football or in overhead athletes like tennis players, squash and badminton players, however shoulder injuries are also common in the general population triggered by tasks requiring overhead reaching, heavy lifting or repetitive use of the upper limb.
